Similar to Storm Claudia swept through the northern region the prior day, the home side overwhelmed Manchester United aside at the Etihad. It was a convincing three-nil win for the City coach's side owing to goals from Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Lauren Hemp. It was a result that firmly established their leadership claims as they strengthened their position at the WSL pinnacle.

Successive Losses for United

This result signalled back-to-back WSL setbacks for Marc Skinner’s side for the maiden instance since May 2024, putting them a significant margin off the table toppers with their title hopes hanging by a thread.

Manchester United's capacity to juggle league and European soccer with a limited squad has been a widely debated issue since they secured entry to the Champions League. Looking at the fixture list, it always seemed this was the matchday that would truly test this fortitude. Regrettably for the visitors, they seemed weary from start to finish, the landmark win against PSG clearly having left its mark.
